I love digging into old photographs — there is something about a vintage image that immediately pulls you into another world and another life. In this piece I layered an old photo of figures working with a horse and cart over a painted ground, then wrote poetry directly onto the surface in my own hand. The mix of history, paint, and words is very intentional — I am drawn to the way text and image can talk to each other, each one changing how you read the other. It is playful and a little mysterious and I love that about it. A one-of-a-kind collage piece that brings something unexpected and personal to any contemporary or eclectic interior.
