Three women at the beach — one bent over, two others coaxing or laughing or both — and in the distance a whole crowd of figures dissolving into the haze. I transferred the vintage photograph onto a painted ground of warm sand, aqua, and soft sky, letting the paint and the image bleed into each other so that past and present feel like the same moment. There is so much personality in these three women. I don't know who they are but I feel like I do. A warm, witty, and beautifully layered piece that brings a sense of story and history to any coastal, contemporary, or collected interior.
