This one was transferred directly onto raw wood, which gives the vintage beach photograph a warmth and grain that feels like memory itself. Families at the shoreline, their reflections caught in the wet sand — there is something about the way shadows mirror us that I find endlessly fascinating. Below the image I painted a deep black band and scratched the word whisper into the surface, barely legible, like something half remembered. The red and yellow flicker at the edges like sparks. It is a piece about what we carry from the past and how quietly it speaks to us. A raw, evocative work for a contemporary, literary, or boldly collected interior.
