Make Me Blush begins with a vintage photo from Cannon Beach of a woman playing in the ocean.  She looks back winsomely at the camera.  The historic photo is transferred to the canvas and hand-painted in shades of pink, gray, white and black in and around the image. This painting is different from my others — quieter, more contemplative. I was drawn to the idea of a solitary figure standing at the water's edge, waves breaking around her feet, face turned to the sky. There is something timeless about that image — a woman and the ocean, completely alone together. The muted palette of rose, gray, and dark sand gives it an almost dreamlike, vintage quality, as though it exists somewhere between memory and the present moment. A hauntingly beautiful piece that brings a sense of poetry and stillness to any interior — contemporary, classic, or collected.
