Some mornings I walk to the beach and barely look at the water — it's the sky that has me. This was one of those mornings. Great clouds rolling in from the northwest, the light shifting underneath them, that particular shade of aqua that only exists on the Oregon coast when the weather can't decide what it wants to do. The sand below is almost an afterthought, a thin strip of warm gold grounding all that sky and air. I built up the surface in layers, and the texture catches the light in a way that makes the painting feel like it is breathing. A wide, serene piece that fills a wall beautifully in a coastal home, great room, or any space that loves light and quiet.
