From the beach at Gearhart on a breezy morning, you can look south and see Tillamook Head rising out of the mist — this dark, ancient headland that appears and disappears depending on the weather. I am always drawn to it. This particular morning the clouds were moving fast, the dune grass was bending in the wind, and the headland was half swallowed by sea fog. I set up right there and painted what I saw. The palette of aqua, soft white, and deep blue captures that fresh, windswept feeling perfectly. A wonderful piece for a beach house, coastal retreat, or any light-filled interior.
