This is an autumn morning on the path to the beach — the grasses have turned from summer green to deep gold and amber, and the ocean sits cool and dark blue at the horizon beneath a pale, quiet sky. There is a stillness to the coast in the off-season that I love deeply. Fewer people, slower mornings, the sound of the wind in the grass. I painted this with flicks and splashes of color through the grasses that give the surface a spontaneous, lively energy. A warm and intimate piece that feels right in a coastal cottage, farmhouse, or any collected interior.
