On a clear morning the ocean at Gearhart turns a color that is almost impossible to believe — this deep, vivid turquoise that shifts to cobalt where the waves build and break white along the shore. I stepped off the path and just stood there for a moment before I even set up my easel. The golden grasses framed the view perfectly, the sky was open and blue, and the whole scene had that quality of light that makes you feel enormously lucky to be alive and outside. This is one of those paintings that holds a perfect morning. A bright, luminous piece that brings the coast inside — wonderful in a beach house, coastal retreat, or any sun-filled room.
