I have walked this path through the dunes hundreds of times and it never loses its magic. There is something about being enclosed by the grasses on either side — the way they catch the light, the way they move — that makes you feel held before the ocean opens up ahead. I painted this one for that feeling, not the destination. The path disappears into a soft glow of sky and cloud, and the surface is richly built up with texture throughout, the grasses almost sculptural against the moody blue-gray sky. A meditative and deeply beautiful piece that works in a coastal cottage, contemporary, or any interior with good walls and good taste.
