I painted this on a morning when the weather couldn't make up its mind — dark clouds pushing in from the north, light breaking through behind them, Tillamook Head sitting heavy and green across the water. There is that particular drama that happens on the Oregon coast when a storm is building but hasn't arrived yet, everything charged and luminous at the same time. The dune path leads you down toward the beach and into all of it. I love this kind of sky more than any other. A moody, atmospheric piece with real presence — wonderful in a coastal home, a great room, or any wall that can hold something with depth and feeling.
