This is a late afternoon painting — the light was going warm and orange at the edges of the sky, the dune scrub turning rust and amber, the ocean settling into that deep, quiet blue it gets toward evening. I was close in to the vegetation, really looking at the textures and colors of the coastal scrub up close, letting it take up most of the canvas with the sea and sky just visible beyond. There is an intimacy to this one that I love — it is less about the grand view and more about being right there in the landscape, noticing. A richly textured and moody piece for a coastal, contemporary, or nature-inspired interior.
