Some of my favorite mornings on the beach are the gray ones — when the sky and the sea are nearly the same color and everything feels hushed and close. This painting came from one of those days, the kind where Tillamook Head disappears into the clouds and the sea stacks are just faint shapes in the mist. The surf is gentle, the sand dark and cool underfoot. There is a softness to this palette — sage, blush, warm gray, and the faintest hint of green in the water — that I find genuinely calming. A quiet, beautiful piece for a coastal, Scandinavian, or minimalist interior.
