This is Gearhart on a winter morning — the kind of day when the sky is every shade of gray and blue, the wind is in the dune grass, and the ocean is rolling in with quiet determination. I walk this path so often that I could paint it from memory, but I never tire of the way it opens up at the end to that vast stretch of surf and sky. There is a stillness to these overcast days that I find deeply peaceful. The cool palette of navy, slate, and warm gold feels very true to this place and this light. A beautiful piece for a beach house, coastal, or classic interior.
