This bench has one of the best seats on the Oregon coast — tucked into the dune grass with a front-row view of the beach, the surf, and Tillamook Head stretching out across the horizon. I painted this on a bright, breezy day when the light was dancing off the water and the grasses were moving in every direction. There is something about these benches that invites you to slow down, and that is exactly what I did. The loose, painterly brushwork captures that sense of light and air that makes a day at the Gearhart beach so hard to leave. A wonderful piece for a coastal home, beach cottage, or any space that could use a breath of fresh ocean air.
