Some mornings I walk to the beach and the sky is doing something so extraordinary that I just stop and look up. This was one of those mornings — big clouds rolling in off the Pacific, the kind that cast moving shadows across the sand and make the ocean flash between deep blue and silver. The low dunes in the foreground are so familiar to me, worn and golden and quiet. I painted this with a lot of texture in the surface, which catches the light in a way that feels alive. It works beautifully in a coastal home, a modern interior, or anywhere with good natural light.
